The Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) National Conference on Allied Health Education is February 20-22 in Savannah, Georgia. The annual conference brings together members of the postsecondary health care education community for keynotes and panel discussions from industry leaders and educators.

This session will feature up-to-the-minute presentations and discussions concerning statutory and regulatory issues facing postsecondary education today. Congressional efforts to reauthorize the Higher Education Act are gaining steam. In 2019, the U.S. Department of Education added a sweeping new “accreditation and innovation” rulemaking to its efforts to remove the barriers to innovation and distance education and continues to roll back regulations by proposing major changes to Title IX, borrower defense, and gainful employment. The presenters will walk through the possible changes to the HEA and Department’s regulatory agenda, highlighting what’s been accomplished, what’s planned, and likely effective dates.
